Therapy Rates

Therapy sessions are $235 (CAD) per hour, consisting of 50 minutes for therapy and 10 minutes for administrative work. This rate applies to both individual and couples therapy.

Please note: The cost of each therapy session covers the time and effort I invest in preparation before each session and reflection afterward, ensuring that my services are personalized to your unique life circumstances.

Accepted Payments

Therapy sessions can be paid for using interac e-transfer, ACH bank transfer, cash, cheque, and credit cards (Mastercard, or Visa). If your insurance covers your therapy, I might be able to bill them directly. This can be confirmed for you at the start of your treatment and by reading more below.

Will I be charged for a missed appointment?

Yes, if you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours’ notice or don’t show up, you will be charged the full session fee. A “missed appointment” occurs if you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or don’t show up. Most insurance policies do not cover these fees, so they will be billed directly to you.

Will my insurance cover the cost of therapy sessions?

Yes, the therapy services I offer may be covered by certain public or private health insurance plans. Scroll down to see which health insurance providers I work with to offer direct billing.

If you are an active CAF military member, RCMP, first responder, emergency personnel, or Veteran using Medavie or Alberta Blue Cross or working with through VAC/PCVRS, or if you’re simply an individual covered by Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife, GreenShield, Empire Life, Desjardins, or another health insurance provider through your employer, therapy sessions with a Registered Psychologist are eligible for coverage in alignment with your health insurance plan.

Please contact your health insurance provider to confirm:

For example, you may have $1,200 annually for therapy that covers $230 per 60 minute session, which resets each June, and is available for services provided by a Registered Psychologist.

For Active Duty Military Members: Coverage does extend to third-party providers (like myself) while you are employed by the Department of National Defence (DND). However, you may still need to access mental health services on base to seek an external referral for my services. Alternatively, you can choose to pay for services out of pocket. Feel free to schedule a consultation and we can work through this piece together.

What if you (Rob) cannot direct bill my insurance provider?

Some insurance providers might not offer direct billing; in this case, you’ll be required to pay out of pocket (e.g., by credit card, cash, e-transfer, or cheque). However, you can submit the receipts from our sessions for reimbursement. Your receipts are easily accessible—available for download or sent directly to your email.

If this applies to you, please note that I offer up to 30 minutes free (no cost to you) to review and walk you through your insurer’s process (e.g., reading your benefits package or policy, and reviewing the employee app or insurance portal) to help you understand how to submit your receipts.
